This was my first race running pregnant and actually knowing it. When I ran the speedy spaniard I was pregnant and got sick afterwards but I didn't know that I was pregnant. This one I knew. Originally I was hoping for a 1:20ish time. Even if it was a 1:29 but when I found out I was pregnant I wasn't sure what to do. I have never ran pregnant before but since I have already been running, I want to keep running. I decided to cut back and not try to go as hard though.
Although I hoped for a 1:45, or at least the top 100 I decided to ignore the watch and run according to how I felt. At any signs of cramping I was prepared to stop and be satisfied with a Nonfinish. At 6 miles I realized I was going a lot faster than planned but I felt good so I continued. I love down hill so I was able to cruise down the slopes. At 10 miles I felt a little more tired and worked over but still good enough to continue. At the last mile my sweet friend Heidi, who was on a training run, ran me in. I wanted to speed it up at the last 1/2 mile and the trooper did it with me! She ran 20 today! I finished just 2 minutes slower than my fastest half. And I felt a ton better than I felt my last two half marathons. I slowed when I needed to, I walked at a couple of aid stations. It was great! Splits 1-7:06
